Used Hardware: Pentium 4
In the following page you can find information about the specific hardware I used for these howtoos.
Followed with some comments about the used software and performance.
Pentium 4
Pentium 4 (2,8) northwood
mobo: Albatron px865pe pro
Ram: 2,5gb
Graphics: nvidia fx7500le 256mb (qe/ci working)
OSX:
10.5.5 retail
10.5.6 retail(loss of support qe/ci)
OSX-86: iAtkos 10.5.4
The pentium 4 is used for more then one purpose:
Main HD:
160 GB : 100 GB for osx.....60 GB extra partition for content and backups
Installed with OSX 10.5 , upgraded 10.5.1>10.5.5 (all upgraded by apple....using the download combo update)
Qe/ci is enabled giving a full 265mb graphic support. (by Omni)
Mainly used with garageband (iLife) for music recording.
For sound I use the software for my usb-guitar amp (E-MU Tracker Pre USB)....this module is my main sound device.
The retail method doens't support the soundcards well so I didn't care since the amp is supported anyway (the software driver survived the upgrades and is also working on my ibook)
Second HD:
80 GB:
40 GB OSX iAtkos 10.5.4 (qe/ci working)
40 GB gpt Disk-space
Third HD:
20 GB
test HD.....used for osx-server.....test installations...... (imaged with disk utility it's quick to setup any installation).
Sometimes this site runs on this HD (ubuntu apache) when the server gets a fix.
Retail usb HD:
This is the retail installed 8 GB usb-stick booted with the cd I created for this pc...(not the acer cd!)
Also copied the initrd.img to the boot usb-stick....to use it on this pc.
The retail usb-disk is the tool I use most when imaging with diskutility among different hardrives and partitions.
